I’m Rob Schuster, a Cincinnati native with a passion for creating compelling visuals. I graduated from Elder High School and studied Illustration at The Columbus College of Art & Design. My career in editorial art spans nearly 15 years at three metropolitan newspapers: The Knoxville News Sentinel, The Pittsburgh Press, and The Cincinnati Enquirer. While at The Enquirer, I trained at USAToday to master the emerging art of creating charts and educational graphics. This experience honed my skills in research, design, and illustration, winning two first-place Associated Press awards for both Illustration and Infographics.
Since 2006, I’ve worked as a freelance illustrator and infographic designer for notable clients like McGraw Hill, Pearson, National Geographic, and Oxford University Press. I also served as Art Director for Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouses, designing everything from menus to murals. Additionally, I've collaborated with local businesses and design firms, creating custom visuals that help brands stand out.
In recent years, I’ve expanded my work to include fine art, printmaking and murals, creating pieces on canvas, metal, and textured wallpaper. I also have made signs and vehicle decals using my large-format printer, specializing in flat surfaces.
Outside of work, I enjoy hiking, sports, and spending time with my family. I play a variety of sports with my sons, including volleyball, skiing, flag football, and vintage baseball. We’re avid travelers—recent trips include Spain, Italy, Amsterdam, Vienna, Prague, and hiking in Vancouver in 2024.

WIth Carol's help, installing the Training room mural at the Archways office in Florence, Ky

I have some experience wrapping flat images like trucks and trailers. Here I am on a scissors lift decaling a large trailer.I wouldn't want to do it full-time but it is very physically demanding (which I enjoy) and also nice to see my work on such a large canvas.
